We are thrilled to announce a partnership with Photography Chismis PH in conjunction with Insights: Issue Two.
The Parallax Feature Grant for Insights aims to encourage and support writing on documentary photography and photojournalism, focusing on the Southeast Asia, and in particular the Philippines.
Documentary is concerned with the real. It could be referred to as “non-fiction photography.” Consequently, we want to hear from people who write about issue driven photography and are looking for submissions that interpret and discus how photography relates to real world events, people and places.
The grant welcomes a broad range of styles and perspectives ranging from individual reflections, journalistic accounts, and historical narratives. The social, political and personal are all relevant approaches and topics. We value personal stories, conversations, and everyday observations as much as critical analyses, scholarly works, and artistic declarations.
How to Submit
We accept both proposals and finished articles.
Proposals can be submitted to photographychismisph@gmail.com, with PARALLAX FEATURE GRANT – Last Name, First Name in the subject line.

Award
The selected author will receive:
- 100 SGD* from Parallax
- 35 USD from Photography Chismis PH
- Cross-publication in Parallax Photo Journal and Insights: Issue Two
- An invitation to participate in an “In Conversation” public presentation online with Parallax Photo Journal
